After having produced brief one - exploring, analyzing and piecing the brief together for a music video production. I had discovered that there are many pros for the task - such as developing upon technical skills such as camera work and the uses of editing skills and how this can contribute towards the final cut piece. It also concluded my knowledge upon how the music industry is and has evolved greatly. Having this knowledge would mean that it would allow me to challenge typical conventions for the brief. This would provide a more diverse and versatile portfolio for entering the media industry at degree level. However, with this there are many limitations. I had discovered that throughout the production of creating a music video - it is difficult to co-operate with the artists. They may have differing opinions upon visuals for the content of the video; this can furthermore - effect the time organisation of how the product which therefore can effect the full outcome of the product. Quality and relevance to the genre is significant throughout this task also. A lack of quality will effect how many consumers the product will engage with. From my personal experience of the task - I believe this type of brief will not reflect my key skills within media studies and my capabilities. Due to the workload and complications that could occur with this brief, I have discovered that the regional magazine production task will be more suited to my skills, knowledge and capabilities.
From my research conducted into regional magazines - I had discovered that the majority of magazines produced in this genre had gained the most success in American regions. However, due to the convergence of technology and uses of synergy, this will allow such a production to broaden out to both primary and secondary audiences. Not only this, as a development from my first year of Media Studies, it will give me opportunity to develop technological editing skills within adobe InDesign and Photoshop. I don't believe having chosen this brief it will limit me within my portfolio due to having ancillary tasks accompanying the main body task. The ancillary tasks I will be undertaking for this brief will be the billboard advertisement and the radio magazine advertisement. Having chosen these ancillary tasks - this will allow me to explore new ranges of media and analyse the typical conventions of them before producing my own in relation to the task at hand. It'll give me an awareness of the marketing, advertisement and audio industries in order to gain attention from my intended audience.

Shown here is my research into the regional print magazine research. Throughout this task, I had furthered my understanding of codes and conventions for a print magazine and had applied them to the regional print magazine sector. Analyzing the features in order to gain an understanding of how I would produce the task if I was to apply myself to the secondary brief. I had found the task insightful - gaining an understanding of how the production would benefit myself and how conventions can be challenged or alternated in order to gain succession in the print sector.
Shown above is my research into stereotypical conventions for a print magazine publication. Throughout this research, it was necessary to research these conventions in order to gain an understanding of what creates both content and context for a magazine. This builds on the foundations of creating a print magazine. In the next task, I will be analyzing the codes and conventions of a regional magazine in order to discover whether I feel as though this brief would be suited to me as a media producer for building on my portfolio as an A2 media student.
Linked here is a test of the brief 1 of 2. Me and my production team produced a 30 second teaser of a music video production of our choosing in order to see how we would find this brief. The intention was to create an impressionist/conceptual genre music video. My personal experience from creating this task meant that I had enhanced my technical skills (i.e camerawork) and directing skills in order to produce this piece. Understanding what is appropriate for the genre we had selected and how we would incorporate symbolic elements alongside technical codes to create meaning.
Shown above is my research produced for music video promotion. This is a potential brief I would be applying myself to this year as part of my A2 Media portfolio. Before considering this as a brief - it was necessary to apply myself and understand the codes and conventions of the initial product. It was also necessary to consider the pros and limitations to creating this as a product. How would it benefit me as a producer and the artist(s) the music video would feature. I had considered the technical codes, symbolic codes and conventions to further my understanding of the product from an analytical perspective.
